Glyphosate – what you need to know

In our modern world of depleted soil, environmental toxins, and long-to-do lists, we have forgotten how to eat to nourish our cells. We have stopped paying attention to the fact that real food is real energy. Added to that, with all the crazy diets, fads, trends, what to eat has become very confusing.

Our body was not designed to ingest and assimilate food-less foods; it was designed to work with nature – not against her. The natural environment that once existed has undergone dramatic changes at the hands of man. Modern agriculture in the past 60 years has changed the essence of what is presented as food.

The food processing industry has done a great job of lining our grocery shelves with attractive and “tasty” substances labelled with enticing swarthy catchwords like “added fiber”, “omega”, “calcium” and so on. These products fool the masses, but they are also deficient in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and fiber. They are fortified with man-made ingredients and are far from what we call food.

Perhaps the most dramatic change in our food quality has come from the lack of nutrients in our soil. Why? One reason is the herbicide glyphosate which is Monsanto’s signature herbicide glyphosate known as Roundup Ready, the most widely and heavily applied weedkiller in the history of chemical agriculture globally.

It is important to note that glyphosate was originally patented to clean pipes. Like Drano in 1964, and first patented in 1964 by Stauffer Chemical Company in Westport, Connecticut as a chelator 7, for removing unwanted mineral deposits from metal pipes More than 18.9 billion pounds of glyphosate have been used globally since 2010 and applied to 75% of all crops. Think about what all that glyphosate is doing to the soil!

This document also lists the crops that have been most affected by glyphosate. Guess which ones are at the top of the list? Cereals that you may be innocently feeding your children! They are called Cheerios, Wheaties, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, and the list goes on!! These boxed foods are dangerous, very destructive to the gut microbiome and are completely void of nutrients!

For 30 years studies have concluded that glyphosate is unsafe for humans. Optimum gut health is naturally a function of nature, and not a function of unnatural chemicals, the kind we use to spray over otherwise healthy crops. A healthier product comes from healthier soil, which help the bacteria in our gut become superstars!

The organic movement began in the 1940s as a reaction to agriculture’s growing reliance on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Organic food contains little or no chemicals, synthetics, genetically modified organisms, or sewage sludge. Yet here we are in 2023 and many people are still questioning the need of buying organic food exclusively. There has been a dramatic shift nonetheless as we see more and more grocery stores expanding their organic sections and many health food stores popping up everywhere. As for the cost, I do not feel the excuse of paying too much is valid anymore. Prices have gone down. However, for those that would still like to be flexible, please note this link for the education of what is necessary to go organic and what you can get away with.
